Deal Origination Professional

Overview | Borgman Capital is a Milwaukee-based private equity firm focused on investing in profitable and stable lower middle-market businesses. We are opportunistic in nature, ready to explore deals in a fair, flexible and creative manner.

Position Description | Borgman Capital is seeking experienced deal origination professionals to launch new offices around the country. Candidates should have relevant experience in private equity, investment banking, transaction services, corporate finance and M&A, or as a C-suite executive. Candidates must have a strong network and track record of successfully sourcing direct lower-middle-market deals. Candidates must be entrepreneurial with the desire to found and lead their own location. The individual will be involved in deal sourcing, deal execution, and portfolio monitoring. Borgman Capital will provide investment committee underwriting, back-office support, fund administration, due diligence, financing, marketing and portfolio management support for the new office. Initially the individual would primarily be tasked with sourcing proprietary investment opportunities. The role is success based and participates in carry.

Responsibilities |

  • Found and lead new deal origination office

  • Develop and maintain relationships with a variety of centers of influence to assist in originating proprietary transactions

  • Build deep relationships with C-Level executives and business owners

  • Manage a pipeline of proprietary opportunities from origination to deal close

  • Network directly with business owners in industries of interest

  • Cultivate relationships to source potential acquisition targets and help drive business development efforts 

Requirements |

  • Passionate about private equity investments and strong intellectual curiosity

  • Proven ability to build relationships with business owners to source investment opportunities

  • Passionate about building relationships and networking at a professional and personal level

  • Extensive knowledge of private equity and current M&A trends

  • History of strong academic performance with an advanced degree in finance, business, accounting, economics or other quantitative-focused field of study

  • A strong work ethic, moral compass, intellectual curiosity, and deep sense of accountability

  • Strong interpersonal skills and verbal persuasion skills; sales experience a plus
